“Confidence” is what I have gained being a Khazanah scholar. I moved to a new country (Malaysia) to pursue my study under the Khazanah Asia Scholarship Programme when I was just 18. Coping up with new country, new culture and different languages was tough but the journey has given me the confidence that nothing is impossible. The leadership programmes arranged by Yayasan Khazanah were very helpful to build soft skills for instance teamwork, time management and communication with other scholars.
After having all the trainings, I am now not afraid to face any challenges that comes on the way. Just very recently, I have obtained a very prestigious award called “Candidate Development Award” from the University of Queensland. None of my group members ever applied for this award, as it is very competitive; however, I applied and gained the award. This award is allowing me to attend a summer school at the University of Liverpool, UK, a conference in Zurich, Switzerland and another conference in Rome, Italy in coming July, 2019. I would not be brave enough to try for this kind of opportunities if I were not a trained Khazanah scholar.
