Executive Short Courses
Investing in Today’s Talent for Tomorrow’s Promise.
Yayasan Khazanah is offering funds for those who are in the third sector and developmental works to up-skill themselves with Executive Short Courses at reputable universities and institutions. These full time executive short courses could range between 1 day and up to 3 months. The funds will cover the course fee and a round trip economy class ticket (if the course is conducted abroad), and applications are open throughout the year until the allocations are utilised.

Executive Short Courses Supported
  • Arts & Public Spaces
    Short courses or training programmes related to Yayasan Hasanah’s Arts and Public Spaces Impact Area aim to preserve Malaysian art, build capacity and strengthen the art ecosystem. We also encourage innovation in the arts, culture, heritage, and public spaces*.

    These programmes include:
    Arts & cultural leadership or management, creative entrepreneurship, community-based art practices, management & leadership, artist residencies, preservation and conservation work in heritage textiles. Additional areas of focus include curation and exhibition design, innovation in arts and culture, sustainable art, management of cultural heritage, public art and placemaking strategies, creative tourism development, programmes to create inclusive and accessible public spaces, programmes that develop marketing and communication skills for artists. These courses are designed to empower practitioners, leaders, and communities to preserve art, cultural & heritage, enhance artistic expression, and reimagine public spaces as vibrant hubs for creativity and engagement.

    * Public spaces are the areas that are accessible to all members of the community, fostering inclusivity, interaction, and engagement. These spaces can include physical environments such as parks, community halls, libraries, markets, and cultural or artistic hubs.

  • Community Development
    Short courses or training programmes related to Yayasan Hasanah’s Community Development Impact Area aim to equip community development practitioners and leaders with the skills to drive impactful, community-led initiatives. These programmes focus on enhancing livelihoods, wellbeing, and community leadership while fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities.

    These programmes include:
    Community development planning, implementation, and evaluation; effective community engagement strategies; and integrating social policy into development initiatives. Additional focus areas include participatory planning methods, community needs assessments, leadership development for grassroots organisations, sustainable livelihood strategies, and youth and women empowerment. Training also covers social entrepreneurship, disaster preparedness, resilience building, and fostering inclusivity and equity in community programmes. These courses are designed to provide participants with practical tools and knowledge to create meaningful, sustainable, and resilient change within their communities.
  • Education
    Short courses or training programmes related to Yayasan Hasanah’s Education Impact Area aim to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, build capacity among educators, school mental health and well-being, and promote inclusive and innovative education.

    These programmes include:
    School leadership development, teacher capacity building, mental health and well-being, and inclusive education for marginalised communities and students with special needs. Additional areas of focus include STEAM education, 21st-century learning skills, digital literacy, environmental education, and learning recovery strategies. Emerging pedagogical methods such as gamification, flipped classrooms, personalized learning, and competency-based education are also covered. Training in digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), adaptive learning technologies, and data-driven teaching, alongside ethics in AI use in education, prepares educators for the evolving landscape. Courses on innovative student assessment and digital tools for competency tracking further support the transformation of teaching and learning practices.
  • Environment
    Short courses or training programmes related to Yayasan Hasanah’s Environmental Impact Area aim to promote sustainable practices, build capacity, and drive impactful environmental initiatives. We also encourage innovation in climate action, conservation, and community-based solutions.

    These programmes include:
    Sustainable development practices such as green infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, and urban planning; environmental conservation efforts including ecosystem restoration, wildlife monitoring, and habitat protection; and plastic waste management initiatives like zero-waste strategies, recycling, and circular economy models. Additional areas of focus include climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, renewable energy solutions, biodiversity conservation, and community-based environmental education. These courses are designed to empower policymakers, practitioners, and communities with the skills and knowledge to advance environmental sustainability and contribute meaningfully to Yayasan Hasanah’s environmental goals.
  • Leadership & Strategy
    Short courses or training programmes in third sector and non-profit leadership aim to empower emerging leaders with the skills and knowledge to create meaningful and sustainable impact.

    These programmes include:
    Organisational leadership, inclusive leadership, and social entrepreneurship, alongside strategies for advancing missions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additional areas of focus include advocacy and policy influence, fundraising and resource mobilisation, transformational and crisis leadership, and strategic foresighting. Courses also cover partnership building, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) leadership, ethical leadership, and change management within the non-profit sector. Training in technology for impact and fostering collaborative partnerships further equips leaders to navigate challenges and drive impactful change in the third sector.
  • Organisational Management
    Short courses or training programmes for NGO and social enterprise management aim to strengthen key organisational functions and enhance overall effectiveness.

    These programmes include:
    Grant project and programme management, financial planning and compliance, organisational behaviour, resource management, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication strategies. Additional focus areas include negotiation skills, change and crisis management, operations management, human resource development, volunteer management, and technology integration to improve project delivery and organisational efficiency. Training also covers strategic planning, risk management, capacity building for financial sustainability, and fostering collaboration to achieve organisational goals. These courses are designed to empower leaders and teams to drive impactful and sustainable change in their organisations.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation
    Short courses or training programmes in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) aim to enhance the capacity of individuals and organisations to assess and improve their social impact measurement.

    These programmes include:
    Training in tools and methodologies for social impact evaluation, results-based management, project monitoring, impact reporting, and data analysis. Participants will also learn to develop and apply frameworks such as Theory of Change and Logical Framework, alongside participatory evaluation methods, data visualisation techniques, advanced statistical and qualitative research methods, and cost-benefit analysis. Additional focus areas include adaptive management using real-time data, ethical data use to ensure privacy and accountability, integrating MEL into project cycles, and leveraging technology and digital tools for efficient data collection and analysis. These courses are designed to empower practitioners to enhance accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in their initiatives.

Application must be for a full time executive short course which could range between 1 day and up to 3 months. Applicants need to propose their desired short course in the application form. The short course must be aligned with the categories listed above and provided by reputable universities and institutions.

Applicants must be Malaysian.

Applicants must not exceed 60 years of age as at the enrolment date for this programme.

Applicant must be able to provide work portfolios to be evaluated by the selection panel.

Applicants should be individuals committed to society, for example, in active participation in the student council, youth work, participation in associations and NGOs that are appropriate.

Prospective awardees are expected to show a strong interest in the development related issues, which is supposed to be reflected in the choice of short courses or trainings, prior work experience and voluntary activities.

The Khazanah Global Scholarship is a prestigious award that offers opportunities for bright and high-achieving Malaysians to pursue Foundation studies at Kolej Yayasan UEM and Postgraduate studies at selected leading universities around the world.

In addition, recipients of the Khazanah Global Scholarship are provided with leadership trainings and job attachments at leading organisations in Malaysia.

The trainings, job attachments and exposures, and the facility to gain professional experience at leading corporations in the world represent opportunities that we provide in our quest to nurture our scholars to realise their potential to become Malaysia's future business and industry leaders.

The duration of the scholarship will be for the full course of study, as stipulated in the offer of admission, subject to Yayasan Khazanah's terms and conditions.
